Florina, the capital of the Florina region in northern Greece, is a town with a rich history, spectacular views and diverse culture. Located close to the border with the Republic of North Macedonia, it is known for its local agriculture, especially its pepper crops and boutique wineries. Throughout history, Florina passed through many hands, from the Greeks and the Romans, through the Byzantines, the Ottomans and the Bulgarians, until its final liberation in 1912. Florina is also an important cultural center with museums, art schools, and a university. The Sakolba river that runs through the center of the town is the focal point for a beautiful promenade.
